First off, a little affirmation: somebody out there loves us, and is meant for us. We just need to cross paths with the right person, and it will work!

If you're like me, you're perfectly, obviously dateable, but you work a lot. PLUS all your friends are married and have no single friends you actually want to go out with. Do you ever catch yourself wondering - when did everyone get married?? all those catered dinner parties I went to...those were weddings??

I'm pretty sure I look the same (or better) in real life. I'm confident and will expect a good conversation, but I'm still a soft touch. I'm girlie - the English Major/Musician type who reads a lot, likes movies except gory ones, likes to cuddle up on rainy days, shoot pool over beer one night, and dress up and go to a play the next.

To be honest, the resume's good, but I tend to downplay it because I get a little self-conscious about it. I have a good job and lots of initials after my name. I was an academic in a former life; now I have a "real job" It's not that I sold out (exactly), I just had to pay off my grad school loans. Ah, irony.

With the economy the way it is right now, I am just thankful to have a job at all and am doing a hell of a lot better than a lot of people. That is something I Do Not take for granted.

On the creative front, I play piano and have my own side-line costume design business. I used to design stagewear for bands in the Seattle rock scene. I moved here a year ago from Seattle, so I am definitely not "L.A." In fact, I've been here a year and I still tend to stare at fake boobs. (You say: "Huh. What a coincidence. So do I.") Does it make me totally uncool that I couldn't stop looking at Jocelyn Wildenstein on a plane back from Honolulu?

I suck at most sports, but I like to hike and have hiked a good deal of northwestern Montana. I can bake bread. I stop and pet all dogs. I will let you in if you signal and need to get over on the freeway; I'm nice like that. There are still tons of places I haven't been in LA yet, so finding things we can do together should be easy. I am, for good or ill, easy to entertain.

My Ideal Person:
And when it comes down to it, I just really like men as people. The whole male thing is just awesome. I guess that makes me a "man's woman." I would like you to be a strong, honest, sexy man who can handle a smart, pretty girl. I don't need you to be outgoing, but hopefully you won't mind if I am. As you know, confidence and chemistry are key, and as long as you're kind, have wit and a positive outlook, we'll be in bees-wax.

One last note - my last boyfriend said he fell in love with me for my eyes, my heart-shaped behind, and my meatloaf recipe. So, I guess to appreciate me fully, you probably shouldn't be a vegetarian (on any level).

Sincerely, AEP.

  • The last great book I read
I'm currently reading Lorna Doone by R. D.
    Blackmore.
  • My most humbling moment
When I cracked a joke in front of Stanley Fish and he was not
    - in any way - amused.
  • Favorite on-screen sex scene
Well, I don't know if this counts, but the scene in Gladiator
when Maximus is chained to the wall and Lucilla comes to
visit him. I mean, Russell Crowe tied up. C'mon.
  • The celebrity I resemble the most
I've heard Jennie Garth and Robin Wright Penn.
  • If I could be anywhere right now
I'd probably be rollerblading in Central Park. Or
    up in Montana somewhere.
  • Five items I can't live without
    In random order:

Brandi Carlile, exercise, organic hummus, my piano, and
my HP12C financial calculator (because math is hard).
  • Fill in the blank: _____ is sexy; _____ is sexier.
Knowing what you want is sexy. Knowing how to get it is sexier.
  • In my bedroom one will find...
An oval antique photo of a girl holding a dove, an 1899 edition
of Lorna Doone, a tinkerbell nightlight, a bouquet
of eucalyptus. Okay, and piles of clothes on the floor.
There, I said it. Happy now?
