I'm a not-so-recent transplant from New Orleans, and being so am an unconventional free spirit with a backbone of old-fashioned decorum, the result of which is either charming or confusing, depending on where you're coming from.
For fun, I like activities that involve going somewhere beautiful, like biking along the East Bay parks, tide pooling at a beach or -- my favorite - camping near a river. I also like to read, watch movies, see live music, eat out or just hang with my friends.
I used to be a party girl in my 20s and early 30s, but I'm not a bar hopper anymore. I went to a couple of bars in the lower Haight recently, and I was bored and ready to go home by 10:30.
My day typically starts out pretty early, and I like to get in some sort of exercise (bike, walk, yoga) soon after I get up. I tend to keep things pretty healthy, and am interested in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, but I'm by no means fanatical. I believe in maintaining balance in life, so while I eat my veggies every day, I also honor my love for bacon and pinot noir.
The work I do is typically Bay Area: project manager at a software development company. So, yeah, I'm a corporate slave to some extent, but I dream of selling my house and all my worldly possessions (or at least putting them in storage) and traveling around the world after I get my kid off to college in a few years. I also have loose plans with a couple groups of friends to buy a large parcel of land up north some day and form the sort of commune where we don't have meals together but we do share roads and water sources.
Despite my current state of employment, I'm not the type of person who gets right back on the computer after dinner. I prefer to unplug when I get home, and I actually have more of an artistic personality than a geeky-techie side, though there is a little of that.
My Ideal Person:
I’m looking for a guy who is kind, courageous, knows what he wants in life and can make me laugh. Oh, and tall is pretty important. I’m 5’9” and almost every man I've ever dated was taller than I.
I love to travel, so ideally I would like to have someone to go with me. I also like someone who is spontaneous and doesn't have to have every detail planned out in advance.
Fidelity is also very important to me. I believe in absolute honesty regarding sex because with that comes the freedom for two people to let each other be independent and still feel nurtured in a relationship.
The last great book I read Madame Bovary (again).
My most humbling moment Gee...there are so many. Once I was standing in line at a coffee shop when I saw they had put out a plate of pastry to sample, so I picked up the biggest piece and popped it in my mouth. My daughter immediately cried out, "Oh, mom, that's really gross!" and then I realized I had been eating off someone's discarded breakfast plate.
Favorite on-screen sex scene I thought the Last Tango in Paris was hot, but more for the anonymity aspect than the infamous butter scene.
The celebrity I resemble the most When I was in college tending bar these old farts who would come in to drink at 11 a.m. would be telling me I looked like Veronica Lake by noon, but I don't get that anymore. What do you think?
The best or worst lie I've ever told One time I was trying to talk my way backstage at an Isaac Hayes concert in N.O. by telling his body guard I was a Christian Scientist, too
If I could be anywhere right now I'd be driving out of town to go on an adventure, or my plane would be touching down on an airstrip in a foreign country.
Five items I can't live without Books, my iPod, my laptop, good shoes and my super-squishy feather pillow.
Fill in the blank: _____ is sexy; _____ is sexier. intelligence; curiosity
In my bedroom one will find... Fresh flowers, my lovely antique bed and a little bit of a bay view.
