I am a 34 year old single mom. If I still have your attention, then here goes: I'm a sucker for adventure. I have a wild side, and while it's not as wild as it was 10 years ago, I still wouldn't call it tame. I'll try anything once, sometimes even twice. I like dive bars and Vegas, and especially dive bars IN Vegas. I like driving, but not in traffic. I like raw kale but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a good steak. I'm small and at times that has defined me: at 5'2" and just over 100lbs I can fit in small places. I like that. I can be a bit of a voyeur. I love making friends, especially in unlikely places. I am not shy. I like mystery. I like beer and wine and occasionally a good whiskey, neat. I freelance write, although it is not how I support myself. I homeschooled before it was cool to homeschool. I spent a year when I was ten driving around the country with my dad. We made a lot of friends and found a lot of treasures- it was the best school I could have had. My parents were hippies, and while I do wear a bra, there is still a lot of hippie inside me. I'm not afraid of shaving cream, but my daughter was born at home. Underwater. I used to be a teacher and I loved it. Someday, when teachers make a decent living, I'll be a teacher again. I move around a lot- not my home, but my body. I hike and run and walk and chase my seven year old...as long as I get walked a few times a week, I stay sane. Sort of. I like dangerous things and sometimes that has gotten me in trouble. But now I am a big grown up girl with responsibilities so I can't get in trouble so much. I run a business and after several years of working for myself, I do believe that I am the only person I can work for happily. I don't drink coffee but I eat a lot of chocolate. I don't smoke pot but I don't mind people who do. One day, when my business can run itself, I will play in the woods nearly everyday and write books. I like to cook and I love to eat; I love hotels-- the cheap ones and the expensive ones-- and I love me a good tent in the woods as well. Every so often, I get an itch and need to feel lost. Road trips work best for scratching those itches.
My Ideal Person:
I'm not sure that I'm looking for anything in particular, but if I happened to find a nice guy with an edge, someone who is literate and creative, I probably wouldn't run away. I'm an "outside the box"-er; I tend to be drawn to similar types. It's connection I like; I need someone who knows what that means. Intelligence and humor are what I fall in love with. I'm open to most things and willing to consider all reasonable offers.
The last great book I read I read incessantly. I love Stones From a River. I can re-read The Catcher In The Rye, well, a lot. Love in the Time of Cholera is another favorite.
My most humbling moment The pink stripe on the pee test.
The best or worst lie I've ever told It was great for me, too.
If I could be anywhere right now Big Sur. In the middle of the woods near the ocean. Somewhere with hippie vibes but where women shave their armpits. Somewhere where I can breath. Deeply.
In my bedroom one will find... a bed. a lot of shoes. an antique desk and armoir. a big shaggy white rug. an overstuffed chair. a vintage headboard and striped duvet.
