Serious and silly, sly and sometimes salacious. College theatre professor and sometimes actor. Teach mostly speech and poetry but also voice and movement. Love my job and my students. Acting is limited to obie winning puppet productions with music, movement, and wild designs. Very, very energetic and like to keep in shape. Body and spatially aware, and tend not to bump into things, even on the number 6 train. Like to be challenged creatively, and often produce poetry shows downtown for adults and children. Love to read (philosophy and fiction), sing with my itunes or Danny Styles on lonely Saturday nights, run and work out, watch old movies and international films, explore exhibits, parks, interesting neighborhoods, or just hold up in a hole in the wall restaurant or bar. Hopeless romantic, meaning I guess that romance is ultimately more real than any brain scan. Interested in travel, art, politics, science (astronomy, linguistics, geology), culture, activism, music - and learning as much as I can every day- about the world and/or myself- so that maybe what I do can make a positive difference. A champion for the future of the meek, the masses, and mars. But injustice gets me burning, and reminds me of my father’s Marine Corps blood infused in my veins.
My Ideal Person:
You are warm, and smile easily. Playful and powerful. Understanding, smart, and willful. Fun and funny, serious and down to earth. Comfortable in quietness, but can ignite with a bang. Intrigued in the neglected. But often bored by the popular. You have a need to fill that gap in your soul, or maybe just the ones you see in other people who populate the streets or the hidden corners around you. You don’t mind stopping to be of service to someone, or relaxing for yourself to take a breath, or watch for the hell of it a colorful bird fly or some funny bunny hop. Nice is nice, but anger is ok too—just no dilettantes or know-it-alls with large hat sizes.
