Some things remain constant in my life: I have always loved doing big projects across the floor and not cleaning up right away. I still feel like my camp changed my life. I still talk to my mom on the phone almost every day. I still like to sing songs in the car, with or without the radio. I still have pets (a newt and a bird). I've been working with kids since babysitting in middle school. I still tell long juicy stories which may or may not have a point. I still like brain teasers and riddles.
Some things in my life change. New endeavors include: running a 5k, trying to become an anti-racist activist, being one of those people obsessed with Barack Obama, and making lifesize people sculptures. I'm also always looking for new places to travel to. My latest was West Africa, but I am itching for a new adventure...
My Ideal Person:
At the risk of sounding overly picky...
Please DO respond if you:
* feel passionate about whatever you do * consider yourself a creative problem solver and an intellectual * want to create positive change in the world * are honest * love words (telling and listening to stories, talking things through, debating, etc.) * appreciate community and know how to give to one * are close with your family * have at least one creative bone in your body * love kids * make travel and appreciation of diverse cultures an important part of your life * know how to take care of yourself when you need to
My most humbling moment I have a few, but off the top of my head: being sick and alone in Nepal, finding out that someone I trusted was lying to me, and watching a video of myself teaching.
If I could be anywhere right now In a Himalayan village surrounded by beautiful mountains and faces, or strolling and reading rock graffiti on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Five items I can't live without My journal, my camera, my bear ('Bear'), my guitar (which I don't practice enough), and maybe my cell phone (for connecting to people).
Fill in the blank: _____ is sexy; _____ is sexier. Intelligence is sexy; creativity is sexier!
In my bedroom one will find... Lots of colors and clothes and stuff overflowing from every corner, photographs that I've taken from around the world, art from my grandmother's house, my swinging chair, my cockatiel, balloons for twisting and arts and crafts and lots of pillows/cozy places to sit.
